PATTERNS FOR OPERATING IN A CHANGING WORLD
Workshop Details: In this 3 day workshop, Lea Harrison will present thought-provoking and
sometimes profound patterns for understanding the way things are and what we can do with what
we've got. Or, to put it another way, the workshop presents patterns for understanding how
changing world views and individual choices influence each other. These patterns form a type of
periodic table of our behavious, relationships, outlook (worldviews), and systems so that we can
not only see what we have, but also become aware of anything missing.
To do this we look at choice from all angles - beginning with the idea that to be human is to be
deliberative. We examine the predictable choices we face during our lifetimes; the challenging
choices our ancestors faced up to in the past, thus creating our collective history; the equally
challenging choices that face all of us in the present; and the way further challenges of choice
may unfold before us in the future. We will also concider how some of us grow up to be better at
making choices than others - then go on to investigate ways to improve choice-making, enabling
us to fulfil more of our potential in this world.
This inaugural workshop - culminates in 10 years of writing a book that will support in detail all
elements. You will be taking part in an experimental and ground-breaking experience in getting
this wholistic approach into the world. Anyone interested in Social Ecology should be part of
this workshop.
