Social Ecology

Social Ecology has been offered as a post-gratuate subject at
the University of Western Sydney (UWS) since the late 1980's.
I started this fabulous course in '07 after wanting to do it since I
graduated with a Vis Art degree in '93.

Unfortunately it is presently suffering from severe funding cuts
at a time when this sort of study is more important than ever.
Social Ecology most basicly is about recognising that there is a
web of inter-connected relationships between all living things.

By understanding our personal relationship with the living world
(GAIA) and our individual sustainable action within it; finding our
common union (communion) with other living beings; searching
for new ways of perception which promote change; a learning
process based on the concept of 'life long learning' seeking ways
to enable change in our selves and thus in others.......etc!

As the Dalai Lama in his nobel peace prize acceptance speech said
"because we all share this small planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony
and peace with each other and with nature. That is not just a dream but a necessity."
